Tramp the Queen Charlotte Track... one of New Zealand's most beautiful and historic walks, stretching 71km from Anikiwa in the South to Captain Cook's favourite anchorage, Ship Cove, in the North. During Cook's three visits to New Zealand in the 1770's he sailed in to the Cove seven times; a cairn marks the location.A large length of the track follows the ridge between Queen Charlotte Sound and the adjoining Kenepuru Sound, which is a branch of the stunning Pelorus Sound - so the views are spectacular!You'll also enjoy the variety along the way - native bush, the occasional farmlet. And of course the water's edge of one of the world's most famous and scenic natural features.Enjoy the calls of the tui and bellbird, and watch wekas, gannets, oyster-catchers, herons, shearwaters and shags; you'll also see native wood pidgeons, fantails, and waxeyes on the wing; walk under the shade of native beech, kamahi, and ancient rimu that still stand from before Captain Cook's time. Nikau plams, manuka, and kanuka shelter many species of ferns and flowering orchids.You may also see marine life such as fur seals, dolphins, and orcas.The walk can be made from either end: by leaving from Anikiwa, near Picton, you can walk further and further away from civilisation, and be picked up by pre-booked water taxi from Ship Cove; but the best plan is to water-taxi to Ship Cove and work your way back to Anikiwa. Either way, break your journey at the Endeavour Resort, stay the night, and take the opportunity to fish the Inlet from our wharf (or borrow a complimentary dinghy!). Kayaks are also available, and our Endeavour Inlet General Store can provide those little luxuries or those absolute necessities.

Enjoy the sheltered bush-clad coves and spectacular convuluted coastline of Queen Charlotte Sound from your base at Endeavour Resort!For the casual paddle around Endeavour Inlet, we have a fleet of kayaks available... if you are intending to explore the further reaches of the Sound, sea kayaks are available from Picton or you may wish to bring your own.However you choose to do it, stay with us and make your expedition all the more memorable for the variety of activities you can enjoy while ashore. Avail yourself of our southern hospitality - and our hot showers, laundry facilities, games room, and Endeavour Inlet General Store!

ACCOMMODATION:The Resort has 3 x Motel Units,with own shower/toilet facilities.5 x Budget Accommodation Cabins,sleeping from two to ten people,sharing shower/toilet facilities.BOATIES:Shore facilities are available at a nominal rate for visitors to the Inlet aboard their own vessels. We have moorings right in front of the Resort's wharf, or you can anchor anywhere in the large Inlet.FACILITIES:• Games Room. pool table, table tennis, darts.• For quieter times there's the combination library and TV/Video room, containing books, videos and magazines to suit all tastes.• If you prefer outdoor meals on tranquil summer evenings, a pleasant barbecue area is there for you.• The well-appointed Endeavour Inlet General Store is located at the Resort, for all your holiday supplies.PRICES:Costs vary throughout the year according to season.(Oct 2011-May 2012)MOTEL ROOM: $145 first two people $40 extra person sleep up to 7 people includes linen.BACKPACKERS: $30pp or $45pp linen supplied (bunk beds) own kitchen sharing toilets and showers.CABIN: double bed own kitchen sharing toilets and showers cost is $90 cabin per night linen supplied.CABIN: double bed and a set of bunks own kitchen sharing toilets and showers cost is $90 first two people $20 extra person linen supplied .
